Our History
The Worldview Project was founded as a 501(c)3 educational nonprofit in 2001. Originally known as The Worldview Press, the organization was renamed in 2009 to reflect its evolving wider commitment and involvement in promoting greater cultural knowledge, understanding, and engagement.The Worldview Project is an educational organization, believing that great knowledge and understanding are at the very core of a more responsible citizenry and more harmonious relations and interactions between people of differing cultural backgrounds.
- 2006: As the organization grew we opened a physical office on Morena Blvd. in San Diego.
- 2006: The online magazine The San Diego Participant Observer was launched providing cultural articles from around the world and specifically information and resources related to the rich cultural tapestry of San Diego.
- 2008: We launched the www.multiculturalbooks.org online bookstore including thousands of curated and hand-picked award-winning and highly rated and reviewed international books and materials.
- 2009: The Worldview Press was renamed Worldview Project to reflect the greater scope of the organization’s work.
- 2011: The first annual Harmony and Motion International Music and Dance Festival was held in Balboa Park. Partnering with San Diego Civic Dance Arts, Harmony and Motion brought together musicians and dancers performing musical and dance traditions from around the world.
- 2013: The first annual Harmony in Action Cross-Cultural NonProfits Fair was produced by the Worldview Project. The annual event brings together more than 2 dozen internationally oriented cultural and humanitarian organizations in San Diego to meet with the public and join in common purpose with each other.
- 2014: The Worldview Project Book Club was formed.
- 2018: (Fall) The Cultures in the Classroom schools program began development.
